So I was thinking about my friendship with my buddy Carl recently. We are really good friends, have been for close to 8 years now, but have so little in common it isn’t even funny.

He is a redneck army boy who loves to go mudding in his lifted truck and shooting up in the woods.

I am a nerd that derives happiness from writing programs, developing IP schemes, and playing Magic.

The whole idea of opposites and such attracting doesn’t fit with the birds of a feather saying. As I thought about it I realized that in order to be good friends with someone, you must have enough in common with them to make conversation with them possible, but enough aspects NOT in common with them so that the conversation would actually interest the both of you.

I then realized that if I were ever to meet a person that is exactly like me in every way, I would not be able to stand him. He would bore me to death.

So in conclusion, everyone is the one person they cannot stand. Most of the people you don’t get along with either have very few things in common with you, or too many.

On a ship.

In the ocean.

With me as captain and all of my friends and family as the crew.

Sailing around the entire planet many times over, making port only to gather supplies and earn some cash.

It will be glorious.

We will grow most of the food we need on the ship its self, have a water filtration system for drinking/bathing, make port for repairs and various worldly celebrations like Oktoberfest in Germany and Independance Day in the states, have a killer sound system installed for music playing-ness, probably a water slide and a hot tub or three…

I plan to retire and get the ship, then convert it into my own little party galleon. After a few years I will convert it into a family ship, and homeschool my children on board as we travel the world.

To be that free…I crave it so.

My accidental 4 day weekend.

So I went to get my whooping cough shot on Wednesday because the family I am staying with had a possible case of it.

When I got to the doc, I was offered my Pneumonia and Influenza shots as well. Seeing as it is the tail-end of flu season and I haven’t gotten sick with it yet, I passed on that one. But got the Pneumonia and Whooping Cough.

The nurse that stabbed me failed to mention that one of the side effects of the Pneumonia one is brain splitting migranes. Because of this, I was blind-sided with a pain in my forehead that obscured my vision. When I woke up for work on Thursday, I was barely able to dial the sick line because of the pain/lack of sight.

I was able to supress this migrane and after 2-3 hours of strict rest, was able to get up and tackle my Friday of awesome leisure! :D

Also broke my personal record for ‘Amount of time spent at Shari’s before being asked to leave.’ The record is now 8 solid hours.

So long story short, get a lot of rest after getting your Pneumonia shot, and there is a 30 minute table limit after 10PM at Shari’s, but if you are nice to the waitress, she will let you stay until 5 AM.

Yesterday, my friend told me it would be a good idea to go downtown Portland and just watch people exist. I think I would enjoy that. I have done it before, but to make the trip in just for that, awesome.

I am off work in an hour, and still get a 15 minute break before then! :D

It is finally my weekend, which is good because I literally stayed up all night last night. Goin on 38 hours of straight awakened-ness. I have consumed enough caffeine to knock out a small child.

It is looking like I may be at work longer than anticipated. Oh well.

Wish me luck driving home! :D

I was thinking, on my 70MPH dash to work this morning, that in every human’s life, that human does certain significant things that have already been done by other humans:

Birth
Graduate*
Marriage*
Child bearing*
Death

*optional

If you ask me, it is when one acheives something significant NOT on this list that one can feel truly accomplished.

It is my goal to do as many significant things NOT on the above list[and maybe a few on it] as possible before I comlete the final item on the list.

That is it for now. I am tired and this probably doesn’t make sense. xD

So not only did I fail myself and my employer this morning by waking up 45 minutes before my shift started, but also failed a friend that I was supposed to carpool with.

My phone has been acting up lately and disabled my alarm before it had a chance to go off. I will be getting a new one soon, and this one shall be laid to rest with a .38 special in the woods.

Excuses aside, I owe my friend a pint and earned myself another half of an attendance occurance.

Now lets help some people! :D
